Successful Negotiation #2: The
Difficult Negotiation December 4,

The “Successful Negotiating Workshop 2" helps
participants learn in an interactive setting how to employ advanced negotiation techniques used by
professional negotiators. The workshop will share effective, professional tactics for dealing with
real-life difficult negotiation situations, such as “uphill” negotiation where one party has
substantially more negotiating power, management of difficult or angry negotiating partners, and
communication of bad news and surprises. Structural techniques for successfully dealing with
uncertainty in negotiations also will be discussed. The three hour workshop includes interactive
team and individual exercises that help to consolidate new negotiation skills.
Instructor
The “Successful Negotiating Workshop” is led by Eric A. Klein, a
partner in Katten Muchin Zavis Rosenman, one of the top 100 U.S. law firms. Mr. Klein, who is a
leader in the firm’s emerging companies and corporate practice groups, has helped to train many
lawyers and business leaders in basic and advanced negotiation skills. He regularly helps clients
in the technology, life sciences and health care industries with venture capital negotiations,
structuring of mergers and acquisitions, and negotiations for strategic alliances. Mr. Klein, a
graduate of Princeton University, sits on numerous advisory boards and regularly lectures at
graduate schools and trade groups on business planning, entrepreneurial operations, financing and
securities law issues.
